TIMCO Bolt Down Fence Post Shoe - Bolt Secure - 75 x 75mm - Galvanised

Design fault - not as easy as I had hoped.

They look good and overall a perfect idea. Unfortunately the holes in the internal section for bolting down are too close to the edges with the result that there is no space between hole and the wall of the "tube" part to get a socket in to tighten the bolts. Tis was a disappointment. The shoes are now fixed onto a 6" wall top as a base for a vegetable garden cage but I had to drill new holes to allow for a socket to fit onto the top of the bolts in order to fix them firmly. This was a nuisance and will have affected the galvanising., I suppose. As they are on a 6" wall top using the external holes would not work as too close to the edge of the wall and would have split the concrete. They arriived promptly but the packaging was damaged and some of the bolts and nuts were loose in the box with some nuts missing from the holes in the box. I bought a pack of nuts from Screwfix to remedy the missing parts. IN short, a good concept but the deign needs some review (internal hole location to allow for a socket) and tougher packaging for shipment would be useful too. Not the end of the world as problems go but not quite perfect. Pic attached showing central bolt. Much better quality than the popular brand name for these things. Appear to be well made and a good fit for 75 x 75 mm nominal posts, which are a bit smaller in reality as usual. They have received favourable comments, I was installing right on the edge of the pavement so they have been seen during construction of the new fence. Time will tell for durability. Bought this to attach to concrete footings I had put in for a childs playhouse they served the purpose well they are galvanised so should easily last the life of the playhouse and the appear to secure well using concrete screws they were by far the cheapest price I could find online from ironmongery direct will use this company in all future projects
