Could be so much better

I'm a highly competent DIYer but this took me way too long to fit than it should. I don't normally write bad reviews but felt the need in the hope this gets picked up by the manufacturer. Firstly, it arrived promptly and well packaged (5 stars to Ironmongery Direct), then on unpacking I saw the rubber trim was very wrinkled and turned up in one section. Days of trying to flatten it out and I ended up asking I.D customer services for a replacement trim, which in all fairness, arrived quickly from the manufacturer but it was wrinkled worse than the original strip, so I went with the original (bit more flattening out on a sunny window sill, but not perfect). Come to fit and the screws are sellotaped onto the item with the most unnecessarily stickiest sellotape ever - leaving residue all over the it on removing. Acetone and meths and half hour later and still minor smudges remained. Cutting to fit was easy (but don't follow the video that says lop the surplus off one end - make sure you take the surplus off both ends otherwise your screw holes will be off centre). Oh and the screws for the end sections don't fit. Cue spending an age hunting through my supply for screws that do fit - very unnecessary! I decided to go with my own black screws for the front facing section - why send silver ones?! So many basic things to get right: the right colour and sized screws, low tack sellotape and package the rubber trim in such a way it can't get wrinkled whilst in storage. I would have had it opened, trimmed to size and fitted in less than half an hour. Had I have found another similar design, in black elsewhere I would have gone with it, but unfortunately not. We'll have to see how it performs long term as the trim is still wrinkled in places and doesn't touch the threshold, I'm hoping it will flatten over time. Couldn't fault Ironmongery Direct's service but the product needs vast improvement. Seems lazy from the manufacturer... and I've just spent another 10 minutes writing this to add to the bill :D

Fast and efficient service

Fast and efficient service ordered received and fitted in two working days just have to wait for the rain to arrive for a full test of the deflector.

Works well, could do with being deeper

Replaced a standard weather bar with this profile to stop water seeping in underneath. I had to pad out the door to bring it further out as this profile was not very deep and left more of the threshold exposed. Probably easier to fit on an outward opening door, bit it worked well on my inward opening door.

A Good replacement

Bought these to replace one existing and one broken rain deflector for our Village Hall emergency exit doors. They were straightforward to fit and look sturdy and up to the job. They also look very smart!
