Need to pre drill!
Bought these to join 20 x 100mm thick oak sleepers so driving home up to 200mm. Pre-drilled first sleeper expecting the screw to easily penetrate the second. It didn't and stuck half-way. Drill bit broke star teeth. Had to pre-drill all remaining sleepers which added to the work time. Once in they look OK. Seems a good company though with a good customer service.

If you want something to pull timber together and hold it well,this is it! proper fixing this.
