Used these to tie 4 x 2s together. The sharp point drives easily and there is no splitting of the wood. Ended up using a shallow counterbore where needed the heads flush to the surface. Smooth shank ensured they pulled the pieces up snug. Excellent.
Our Preferred Screw
We use the Spax Washer Head WIROX screw all the time for 1st fix joinery work. They have a high torque, ideal for pulling double and triple joists, trimmers and rafters together tightly, even on twisted timbers. More expensive than skew nailing the timbers together, but worth it. With the T-star head they can easily be taken out again and used elsewhere without damaging the heads. No splitting of the timbers and anti-corrosion so great for 1st joinery work.
