About this product
- Disability Right UK, formally RADAR (The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation) promotes a U.K. national scheme, whereby specially manufactured locks are fitted to toilets and can only be operated using a RADAR key
- The National Key Scheme (NKS) offers disabled people independant access to locked public toilets around the country
- This is a 5th generation lockset and is supplied with a 6 lever mortice lock with engraved door furniture incorporating an external indicator and emergency coin release and one blue heart comfort key
- The 5th generation lock is a retrofit for existing RADAR locks so no alterations are required when replacing
- It should be remembered that the RADAR lock is a basic system and is not designed as or intended for use as a high security lock
- Only two hands are required, as the latch bolt can be easily reversed for inward or outward opening doors
- In order to comply with BS8300 the lever handle should be fitted between 800mm and 1050mm above the floor (1000mm preferred)
- The door is opened from the outside, by use of the RADAR key, when the external indicator is white. Once inside, the door is locked by lifting the lever upwards, which changes the external indicator to red. (N.B. keys will not unlock door when the indicator shows red). On exiting, the door is opened by pushing the lever down, which also returns the external indicator to white
- These keys are available to disabled or registered blind people to enable them to access the facilities. This gives protection against vandalism or misuse, so that a clean functional toilet is available
- Return to door safety lever handle to comply with BS8300
- External indicator to show facilities are in use
- External emergency coin release
- Reversible latch bolt for inward or outward opening doors
- Bolt through fixings to prevent lock being removed for the outside
- Lockset vinyl surround provides a colour contrast to aid those with visual impairments
