Fireco Dorgard Smartsound Fire Door Holder - White

Works well, but boy is it ugly.

Bought in order to comply with fire regs whilst still allowing the lounge door to be open to allow free passage through it. It does what it says and it really -is- a lot more tolerant to non-alarm noise levels (e.g. vacuum cleaner) than the non-smartsound version that we also have elsewhere. However, it is as ugly as sin and 'carbuncle' doesn't start to describe it when fitted to a large, elegant Georgian house door. It would help if it was all white (for a white door) and without the huge label. Installation is straightforward. Documentation is poor. If you want to set any of the extra features (which aren't documented anywhere, I accidently stumbled on a video mentioning them) then search for product videos. The plunger has limited travel so if you have a door with rising butt hinges, or a non-level floor, expect to have to engineer something for it to catch on to (the supplied things won't be enough). In summary, it does the job very well, but it's ugly and expensive for what it is (though, with a captive market, all such holders are comparably expensive).
