Good product with a hidden flaw

This was the first time that I have ever used iron mongering direct and to be quite honest I can say that I was very pleased with the online site, the variety of products, the ease at which I found what I wanted and when I had to ring up the company itself I was dealt with very efficiently and there was no hassle at all. The box of bits arrived on the day when they were supposed to and were delivered by DPL who I have dealt with before and they are in excellent company. The box itself was well packaged and included all the bits and pieces that I needed. Although I have to admit they were at the lower end of the scale in so far as price but nevertheless all the bits were of good quality and well finished. Unfortunately when I came to fit the parts to the window frames this is where I started to come up against problems with the screws that are provided. Of the six stays and six window locks that I purchased I had eight of the screws provided in the packs shear off at the head at the very very last minute of tightening. I’m certainly no gorilla and the screws where being hand tightened with a screwdriver. To say I was a little upset would have been an understatement and especially as I had already fitted the other parts of the window locks which meant I had to reposition everything again and on the opposite side so that everything married up equally. Thankfully I was fitting the stays and locks as replacements on old windows, if this had been a brand-new windows that had not been painted and was being stained I would’ve been in a serious predicament. I ended up going down my local DIY store and purchased screws of a similar size and length and as a precaution ended up replacing all of the screws that had been provided by ironmongery just in case more heads shared while being used. I know things can go wrong and this was an unfortunate situation that I found myself in but maybe ironmongery need to seriously look at the quality of the screws that are being provided with the locks and stays . Other than that I was very happy and very pleased with what I got and would use them again
