Great product, but throw away the screws which come with!

The step cover itself was great, a perfect fit and arrived extremely quickly. One corner was a little bent but easily pushed back into shape. The screws which came with the step were AWFUL - very soft metal, the slots started to lose their shape as soon as the screwdriver touched them. Two sheared in half completely which meant I had to completely unscrew all the others to dig the stumps out of the step before I could replace the brass cover again. Using my own screws the whole thing was on in five minutes, now looks great :)

Up graded doorstep!

My wife has hankered after a brass doorstep for years. This product and the variations in size encouraged me to do the job myself. Previous comments about the strength of the brass screws (slot head) supplied prompted me to buy alternative posidrive screws reducing the chance of snapping or a 'shagged' head. One slip and you can spoil the appearance of the brass cover before it's even installed. I'm guessing most doorsteps are of a harder wood. Pre drilling was necessary. I'm not a handiman but was pleased with the end result - no slips.
