When purchasing a new uPVC Window Handle, almost everything you need should be included, so all you will need is the correct screwdriver to remove the existing screws from the Window Handle, then to insert the screws upon replacing the handle.
Make sure that you check upon purchased that your Window Handle does have screws included, if not, you will need to ensure that you purchase the correct screws to do the job.
The first step is to remove the old handle from the window, which starts with ensuring the handle is in the unlocked/open position, exposing the screw caps above and below the handle itself.
Then you need to remove the screw caps to get to the screws, then with your screwdriver, remove both the top and bottom screws from the handle.
Now that the screws have been removed, you can remove the handle from the window mechanism.
Once you have done this, you should see two screw holes, and the square cut out for the spindle. If you don’t already have the length of the spindle to hand, it is important at this stage to measure the length of the spindle to ensure that your new handle is compatible.
If your new handle is compatible with the spindle cut out of the window mechanism, you can then proceed to fit the new handle in to the window.
Just like when removing the old handle, make sure that when fitting the new handle, it is in the unlocked/open position.
Line up the new handle with the existing screw holes, then proceed to fit the new screws in to the handle.
Now it is time to test if your new uPVC Window Handle is operating as it should, you can test this by moving the handle to the locked position, then back again a few times.
Once you’re happy with the performance of your new handle, you can then place the screw caps back on.
When this has been completed, the job is done.
