How do Antibacterial Push Plates work?

Over the past few years, there has been a greater emphasis on cleanliness and disinfection, and therefore products have been developed to ensure that bacteria is kept at bay in all aspects of commercial properties.

One of these products is Antibacterial Push Plates, that can be easily fitted to a number of types of doors, or simply placed over existing Push Plates without the need for tools. We take a look at how these Push Plates work, their benefits to various commercial settings, and our recommendations.

The technology

Many of us will be familiar with more conventional methods of disinfection, such as alcohol in hand sanitiser and cleaning products.

However, Antibacterial Push Plates use a completely different kind of innovative technology that has been proven to be an effective method against bacteria, Silver-ion Technology.

The Silver-ions used on the Push Plates surface creates an environment that bacteria cannot survive or reproduce on, and is so effective that is has been proven to reduce bacteria and microbes by as much as 80% in as little as 15 minutes, and by 99.9% in a matter of hours.

When these Push Plates are in use, when they come into contact with bacterial and microbes deposited by users, silver ions penetrate the cells of the microbe, suffocating it and destroying its DNA, making them unable to reproduce.

Where to use

Antibacterial Push Plates are perfect for both high traffic areas, and areas in which bacteria and microbes are extremely commonplace. This includes schools, hospitals, public toilets, and other high traffic venues.

Many Antibacterial Push Plates are available in a number of sizes, offering versatility when it comes to compatibility, and ideal for a retrofit project.

Our Antibacterial Push Plates

Here at IronmongeryDirect, you can find everything you could need for an Antibacterial Push Plate installation, from Full Starter Packs to replacement plates, supplied to us by industry leading manufacturer Purehold.

These Push Plates offer all of the properties you would now come to expect from a standard Antibacterial model but are also packed with extra features to increase protection while decreasing hassle.

The manufacturing process of these Push Plates makes them extremely reliable and sturdy, therefore requiring little to no maintenance, and their antibacterial and antimicrobial properties are guaranteed to last up to 12 months, with a handy time strip indicator warning ahead of a required replacement. As well as this, these Push Plates are BS ISO 22196, which is the British Standard for measuring antibacterial properties.
